so i just set up and brought the smart iptv app on my fire tv box a few days ago but just found out i'll be getting a nvidia shield tv tomorrow. will i have to buy the app twice when i set it up on my shield. also im going to be giving my fire tv to my dad (live in the same house) can we use smart iptv at the same time or again will i have to pay for the app.

Yes, you pay per each MAC/device for SmartIPTV.
Also 2 TV's in same house, will need either 2 subs, or a sub that allows 2 connections.
ah ok so ill have to pay again on nvidia shield tv. yeah im going to pay the extra £10 to acestream for the 1 extra device in the home service if i can convince my dad that its good service. he thinks he wont use it a (which he will) and doesnt like that you cant record without getting a dvr device or what ever they are called, but ive told him they have a great catchup service (which is down at the moment because they have moved it to a new service so i cant show him it)

I've already talked with acesteams my iptv service and they said that I can add another device to my account for the 4 months I've signed up for for 10 pound extra. Why don't you try using something other than Smart IPTV, perhaps perfect player? That way you don't have to purchase it twice as it isn't linked to a MAC.
OK guys so I got perfect player working all's good just I can't work out with Nidia shield (so I'm using the Google TV version) how to I scroll through the upcoming programes every time I highlight a channel and press right it takes me over to the next catagory
I have smart iptv app on both on my samsung tv and amazon fire tv On fire tv the channel switching is faster but the picture quality is not great low contrast , brightness On my tv is fantastic , only thing is is slow switching from one channel to another Maybe i blame HDMI cable but another example On my xbox one netflix picture quality is fantastic even though i cant get 4k content but on my tv netflix picture quality is good but not as good as on my xbox one The same i would say for netflix app on amazon fire tv
