Comcast throttling internet.

by iptvking

Being a reseller for couple providers, I always wondered why people bitched and complained about channels buffering, getting kicked freezing etc etc.

I had frontier fios and have never experienced this till today. So long story short, I moved to a bigger place and all they offer is Comcast.

Friend wanted to watch the fight so I went on vod and started it up. After 50 mins or so the fight would stop streaming every 5 seconds. I rebooted, did speed tests and everything was ok. Same issue, froze after 5 seconds. Being a reseller I logged into my panel and could see connection is in red. Disconnected comcast temporarily and connected the firetv directly to 4g lte and no streaming problems at all. Everything was smooth.

Little later today on comcast, was watching discovery channel, same shit after 1hr. Took my device to cousins place, no issues on frontier. Looks like I will have to get a vpn now but it all makes sense finally.

I have the same problem with Comcast. I can start streaming anyone of my few IPTV providers and my stream will start buffering, I switch on my VPN and the streams are usually rock solid. My internet connection is fine when I am doing anything else online.

This is strange. We have had no reports of Comcast throttling and don't beleive this to be the case.

Do keep in mind the tests you did are not 100 percent accurate. By switching to 4g, you also have changing routing equipment as well, so the network completely changed as well as the internet provider.

Because of this, you actually changed more than one variable, which means your tests are actually still not conclusive. It still could be a couple things.

Still, it will be interesting to see if some other people have this issue. You'll know more when you keep all variables the same and toss the vpn into the mix I guess. Apple's to Apple's :)

Keep us posted though!

One of the many reasons why comcast is satan

Try with a vpn to see if it helps. You can get a nice vpn like ExpressVPN with 30-day moneyback guarantee to test with. See if it still buffers like that after a few days of testing.

I feel bad for you man. Comcast is literal garbage. They watch what you're doing online and throttle your connection instead of upgrading their infrastructure. That's the only reason they added data caps. It's all a cash grab.

They also spend millions paying off government officials to repeal net neutrality rules so they can gather your information and sell it off for a quick buck.

Comcast isn't worth the hassle. I refuse to sign up with them. If I ever move, I will move to a place that doesn't have comcast, or a place that offers something else.

I used to think it was hogwash when it comes to Comcast and other providers throttling streams until the Mayweather fight a few weeks ago. I was buffering like crazy like a lot of people but once i turned on my VPN the stream cleaned up quite a bit. I've had a vpn for a few yrs and never used it for streams and still don't for the most part but since the Mayweather fight anytime I do have any kind of buffering I switch on my VPN and it's all good on Comcast so I think there may be something to Comcast throttling.

Yep, do what the IPTVKING did.... get a dedicated DDWRT device and use it to automate the VPN connection.
