I recently was given an MAG254 IPTV box by a friend. I consider myself technically savvy, but the concept of IPTV is new to me. I had no idea such a thing existed before I received the box. Does anyone have some good guides or resources that cover what IPTV is, etc.? I would like to learn more about it.
Get 24 hr trials, try a few, if you like a setup/line up and channels seem ok, then purchase 1 month at a time to start, iptv can change like the wind.
if possible have mag box connected by ethernet cable.
On mag, if you get a sub with some, some may have more features like CATCH UP on some channels, these channels would have a little clock next to them and if has epg data, press right and scroll back a day or so and rewatch stuff (not all have this but some do)
Some have good VOD libraries (films/tv shows) also in section normally called video club.
Also where are you based? UK/USA?and also ask yourself what you want from IPTV, i,e sports/international/usa/uk channels or what not.
To set them up, when you get a trial, you give the MAC address *normally on bottom of mag254, then you enter portal given by a supplier, many vids on that, but pretty simple, press setup - server - portal - name it and add the portal url.

ask for a trail for a MAG and you will get a test and instructions from the providers how to setup, pretty easy.
