No invite is needed at this time to sign up for SmoothStreams. The detailed FAQ at r/SmoothStreamsTV mentions this. It's a private subreddit but the moderators can be messaged to request access.
I’ve heard great things about smoothstreams. I use VaderStreams which uses SmoothStream sources for its MatchCentre sports category plus all the other non-sports channels. VadersStreams and VaderResller on Twitter are direct ways to purchase.

I've been thinking about leaving ss lately. They've got like all the sports, and the service is solid.. But sometimes they'll preempt whatever happens to be on one of their channels for a game. It happened with the South Park season premiere and a couple other shows i watch. It's not their problem, it's no secret their primary focus is sports, and they do reflect things like that in their epg.
Maybe ill keep it just as a backup. I dunno. Currently looking for a second provider. Anyone got any suggestions? IPguys sounds like a solid service.
