Shield TV the problem?

by iptvwolf

Hello.

I have tried several providers and applications (smart iptv, perfect player, kodi, live channels...etc), but I am experiencing buffering, stuttering and looping when using iptv with my Shield TV.

I have a wired 100/100 connection and I have absolutely no problems with Netflix, Youtube...etc. However, when I watch iptv through the same device it's choppy and not as smooth as I would like it to be. I am not in the UK or any other country where my ISP would block the traffic, so I know that's not the source of my problems.

Surely not all iptv providers are having problems at the same time, so I am thinking... is it the Shield? Any experiences?

I know you said you know it's not your ISP, but are you sure it's not your ISP?

The ability to stream everything flawlessly except IPTV really does lean toward it being ISP related. You could try a VPN to know for sure.

I did a full reset of my Nvidia shield because I was having similar problems. My iptv is now fantastic.

I'm 100% sure it's not my ISP. I have no problems with other services (Smoothstreams has always been fantastic), but for some reason I'm unable to get a buffer free experience watching iptv services through the Shield TV.

I am in Norway with a provider who's totally against internet censorship.

u/stokedcrf So the shield is crap for iptv compared to Mag 254, for instance?

Well, I guess saying the shield is crap is a bit harsh.

I abolsutely love my shield, and I even went as far as recommending it to some people the other day over in /r/htpc.

Does it do iptv as well as the cheaper options such as a mag or dreamlink? In my opinion no, but again everyone here on reddit has their own opinions.

I will say I'm a bit excited to try out the new Google assistant with nvidia shield too. Lots of cool shield things to do!

I just choose not to use it for iptv. In fact, in my testing avoiding use of m3u resulted in a better iptv experience in general. But that's just me!

In October there's a couple big events coming up and I'll have the experience of using m3u alongside some dedicated set top boxes for a side to side comparison of a few providers, including my shield. I'm going to have to see how it holds up.

Is it possible to try your device at a friend's house that may use a different isp? That would be a pretty concrete way to find out if the problem with with the network or the device itself, short of grabbing another device. Provides of elimination :) it may not be practical for you, but that's just how my brain works!

It is hard to tell what could be wrong. Why not try a 1 month free Smart IPTV account from www.freesmartiptv.com .

You didn't say what country you are in, but USA and Canada are confirmed throttling with some ISPs.

Before running out and buying a new box, I'd certainly try a vpn to see if that makes a difference. Have you tried ipguys? I mainly use epic as my provider, but for troubleshooting purposes I always use IPguys because it's almost always perfect playback for me.

And finally, I have a shield as well and I will say that, it's total crap for iptv. I use perfect player mostly, with some stb emu for stalker only providers, and playback can't compare with a dedicated iptv set top box.

BUT, that said,I still wouldn't want you to buy a new one wihtout at least knowing if its a isp issue first :)
