I'm not sure what you mean by smooth, because the dreamlink and mag boxes all do perfect video playback for me.

Yes, you can put perfect player on it, but I don't know why anyone would do that. I use perfect player on my shield and it's pure shit for iptv compared to the dreamlink (or mag or my avov)
Also, does it use m3u or MAC for IPTV?
I'm not sure if it's smoother than the MAG, but it IS very smooth. I also own an NVIDIA shield, and it's is a lot smoother and the picture looks much better on the T1+ than on any of the apps on the Shield (stbemu, Kodi, Perfect Player).
It's an STB, and while it does technically run Android (an old version) you should just ignore that. It has it's own player software called DOL2 which automatically loads when it starts up. If all is working well you should never even see the Android menus and stuff. You buy a T1+ to run DOL2. End of story.
DOL2 uses the T1+ MAC for IPTV.

Technically you can install Perfect Player. But if you want to install other stuff like that or Kodi etc, this is probably not the box for you. Get a Mi or Shield.
Another vote for the Dreamlink, the Dol app works a treat, I have netflix and terrarium tv installed on it too so it pretty much covers everything I need. Live TV, movies and TV shows. Only drawback is it does have shitty wifi so you need to get an ethernet cable but apart from that it's awesome
Is running Kit Kat really a concern? The only issue I can see is some app support possibly ceasing in the near future...
Closest thing to cable STB IMO. Pro's are easy to use interface with a good epg (dependant on provider), excellent playback, recording and internal timeshift (with usb flash drive attached) functions, sleep (turn box off) function, channel search, catchup and VOD work extremely well, Playstore and internal apps market with frequent firmware updates to improve the DOL2 middleware. Con's are underserviced in RAM imo, epg lags on loading but improves with high end router, no local cache of favorites and outdated Kodi 4.4 as default although SPMC, Kodi 16 and 17 are available however see no reason to load Kodi as DOL2 app with the added functionality is better for IPTV by far. Overall a very good IPTV box, some argue the best, Highly recommend purchase if your intent is to only utilize the DOL middleware for IPTV.
