Do all providers allow you to record?

Assuming your box has a pvr function?

I don't think they really care. Their main concern is the number of streams you use and whether you share your account with other people. I use tvheadend as my backend and I can record all I want and I seriously doubt the providers that I have used even know that I am recording. I actually don't record that much, I primarily use it for pausing and rewinding when watching live tv.

Providers don't care except for how many connections the recording app will use ie. will the recording app use 1 connection to record and another to view, resulting in 2 connections. On android i use "ProgTV" which uses only 1 connection to record & view. For windows I use "IP-TV Player" which uses only 1 connection to record & view.

You can record on all of them with the right setup.

I use a MAG254 and I have only found a couple I can successfully record from. One of them was WSSPremium
