How do the ISP's block IPTV providers for the EPL and why can't they Fix it?

by fooali

this is something i wanted to understand better. i have some knowledge of IT but i was wondering if there's anyone with more experience that can explain in more detail how they block IPTV providers

Also why cant services like ACE, flawless etc circumvent this block considering they've had 2 months to find a way. Are they lying to us by saying they can fix it or can't they ?

Hi,

I'm not sure what you are on about. At Flawless we have been circumventing it since it began every weekend. We predicted during the summer that they would get the order again and as such built in measures to circumvent it. As such our clients do not a need VPN to watch the EPL with us. Some may experience an inability to connect for about 5 minutes right at the start till we activate our counter measures, but we have to do it as a per match situation depending which server of many they block.

ISP's can instantly blacklist UDP streams at their core routers too, also black list IPTV provider IPs and even throttle the VPN providers IP's so watching IPTV becomes useless.

Providers can fix the issue by changing their ip addresses on their streams. This can be easy to very complex, depending on the setup they are using.

Here's where it gets interesting though, and I can't really prove this as I don't know how all the providers do it behind the scenes.

If you're looking at a stalker provider only, it's very possible that each stream that gets indexed by the stalker server comes from a different source or IP. Meaning that, a provider would have to block say, 3000+ ip addresses from around the world for a service such as Voodoo.

This stalker method, makes it much more difficult to identify specific traffic as all the iptv traffic is spread out across many ips.

Other providers, such as the ones you listed, fab, epic etc all use an out of box solution called xtream codes. This software allows providers to "restream", so all their channels may come from just a handful of ips. For instance, if epic owns 5 servers in different regions, it's much easier for a provider to block those ips than the thousands of stalker ips. Additionally, its much easier to identify spikes in traffic if it's all coming from one ip range.

This is just my opinion and I could be way off the mark here, I'm just basing this off of the little experience I have running stalker servers. I can't speak for other providers, or ISPs and how they block traffic.

The short answer is, it could be very easy or very hard, depending on how complex the setup is.

Appreciate you taking the time to reply this made it more clear as to how things work. I honestly think they will give up and simply ask the Uk users to stick to vpn from here on in
