IPTV General Questions

by ayb88

I'm wondering how IPTV works generally. If anyone can fill me in, I'd greatly appreciate it. Need to learn for a project.

What I'm looking for is basically the following information;

  • How do IPTV vendors (Vader, Ace, etc.) get their source?
  • How do they prevent shut downs for originating broadcasters? For example, what steps do they have to take to try not to be blocked out?
  • What are the issues that these vendors (as mentioned above) are constantly facing?
  • How are the vendors protecting themselves, legally speaking?
  • A general idea of how it all works (technically speaking)

If anyone can answer these questions for me, either on this thread or via PM, I'd greatly appreciate it. Or even if they could point me towards the right direction and other online sources where I can read up more about streamers and IPTV.

1 - They stream it themselves if possible. For streams they can't get (other countries, etc.) they buy from well known vendors.

2 - They use VPN to connect to Stream Providers.

3 - Stream Vendors don't seem to have any issues, except the shitty ones.

4 - They live in far away countries like the former soviet union or amsterdam, etc, where they just don't give a fuck. The main stream providers for the US are in NYC as far as I can tell.

5 - Stream Vendors take the compressed source and transcode and recompress the already compressed signal and package it together in a bundle of channels for sale. IPTV Providers setup a server somewhere, or multiple servers in multiple locations, and buy channel packages and restream and possibly recompress the already compressed compressed signal while possibly adding their own sourced streams to the mix.
