As a Vaders seller, I highly recommend a dreamlink
Been there done that. Tried both. Buzztvxpl2000 kills the dreamlink. Dream link EPG slow as fudge. Buzz EPG just about instant
I think someone on here said the new dreamlink should be released in november so if you can wait until then I would. My biggest issue with the Dreamlink is slow for the EPG loading.
Raspberry Pi running OpenElec or Libreelec. In my opinion, those are the most stable versions of kodi and the easiest to keep updated.
You already have the best box for Vader, assuming that Firetv is a second generation. I mean you could "upgrade" to a Nvidia Shield for what essentially plays out to be a vanity reason, but it's not going to change anything about your Vader experience (it's actually an arguable downgrade with the shittier remote).
Going out of ones way to put Vader on something like a Dreamlink, or any other stalker box that negates one of Vader's biggest sells as a service (multi TV/device access), doesn't really make a lot of sense to me.
Install a copy of SPMC 16.7.1, slap Vader on it, and spend the extra money on something else.
Apple TV gen4 is smooth as butter now that I've finally found some good apps.
