Blocked channels and I can't use a vpn

I posted this question before but I have a bit of an update.

Previous question: Hi, I am having a problem that no one seems to know the answer to. Only some of my channels work, the others don't come in. When I brought the box over to a friends house all of the channels work (the ones that didn't at my house). What could possibly be the issue here? I tested my internet speed and it says it's pretty fast, I've tried different tvs and cables at my house and it still doesn't work. I am so confused as to why this is happening and how I can fix it?

EDIT* Update: I asked the people I bought the mag 254 box from about using vpn. They said something about service being blocked because the subscriber doesn't allow it or something like that. Is there any other option to unblock these channels without using vpn? What about if I change my ISP? Will that do anything?

Yeah, change your ISP to the one your friend has if it is also available in your area.

Get a trial from another provider and see if it has same problems.

Just set-up a VPN, even if the device itself doesn't support it, you can easily point it at a VPN proxy on another box (hint: Docker is your friend).

Yeah, it's definitely looking like your ISP is blocking some of your provider's content... unless you both have the same ISP. You could test on other ISPs s'more.
