Noob post (Sorry): Questions to jump into IPTV world

by exeoddl

Hi folks well I'd like to try IPTV services. But after tons of posts/comments/reviews read, I still have questions.

What about the MAC Address? Is it mandatory to give this information and why? What about privacy concerns or else...?

Is KODI on a Raspberry3 something efficient for IPTV? What about VPN? Can I use it with IPTV streaming?

I'm looking for a strong and reliable provider. Not necessary the cheapest one, but the one with a huge offer that will allow me to watch big games and events (mainly EU, US without any freezing or buffering. Any clue about the provider to catch?

Sorry my lame questions! And thanks for your help!

MAC only for MAC authentication devices, so mostly a MAG or apps that emulate the MAG device. No privacy concerns. Kodi is a joke, Raspberry a student toy. Get a ~$50 Android Box or stick to MAG device for hassle free IPTV. VPN if needed can be installed on Android Device, but not on MAG, so you would need your router to be capable of running a VPN connection. Once you deceide for a device, then open another thread and ask for Trials here, and test a few providers, some offer free 24h, some offer cheap 48h test. Ignore obscure never heard of providers.

...without any buffering or feeezing...

If that is the expectation then I will suggest getting a legit cable sub. The discussion should be about the least buffering or freezing.

During the set up process on an STB, why do you have to 'make up' a MAC address; wouldn't you just use the one that your box has been assigned?

This is the only part of setting up that I don't understand yet.

Thanks for the answers.
