Should buffering be expected during evening hours?

by gslice

Hi all,

I am fairly new to IPTV, but not to Kodi and add ons.

I recently switch from my first IPTV service to a new , fairly popular one.

I switched from the first on because around 6-7pm eastern, all streams would buffer relentlessly . During the day they would be fine! I figured this was because my IPTV provider was giving too many accounts out compared to what their servers could handle.

With the implementation of the second provider, all seemed well. Until the first evening/night. Majority of channels that played fine during morning and afternoon hours, began to buffer during the evening/night.

Anyone have other experiences? Can I adjust something on my end? I didn't want to call out the IPTV providers here in case that is against some unspoken rules.

Currently using nVidia shield on Kodi Krypton 17.6 30mbps up and down WIFI.

Looking forward to everyone's input, tips and tricks.

Things to look at: 1) Have you checked your internet speed/latency when buffering occurs? Could be that too many people are jumping on your ISP's network and this could be causing buffering. 2) You say you are on wifi..can you connect via ethernet when buffering starts and see if it helps? Possibility that you are getting wifi interference at night if you are in densely populate area..ie apartment building. 3) Try using different software...shouldn't make difference but Kodi IPTV not good and maybe even a slight difference in network condition might cause it to buffer. Try using VLC player as benchmark. If it plays ok there then you know Kodi/other software might be issue. Hope that helps....

It's just Kodi, the joke of an app. forced to play IPTV streams that was not meant to. Try it with a cheap iptv box, if same, then defo ISP throttling you on peak time.

It will be your network. Not kodi, not your provider. Either your wifi is being overloaded in the evenings (unlikely), or your ISP is throttling you in the evenings (more likely).

It happened to me with every provider on my T1 until I changed ISPs then, all of a sudden, no more buffering!

ISP run all of the non business customers on a neighborhood NODE, which basically has everyone using the same bandwidths for that area from the central office. If you look at your promo or offering they will say " get up to blah blah download speed" they have to say that because during peak online times like 6-7 when kids are home and mom and dad are off work everyone jumps on which affects the NODE . And your download speed. Which could be why its buffering at that time of night. Whereas with business class its dedicated speeds so they have to give you what you pay for. Hope that helps!

People are saying it's your network, but no, I doubt it, especially if you've tried streaming other things like youtube 4k, etc. and not had issues. I've seen this all the time with providers, especially during popular times like evening, sat night, special events.

I would ask to see if your provider has a different server they can put you on. This sometimes makes a drastic difference due to congestion at the network and/or server.
