I really truly don't understand this. All it does is piss people off and keep casual people from even getting interested in the sport. Let people watch games wherever they want at a reasonable price - At home, at the stadium, at the north pole. It's really not that hard. Anything else and you're just shooting yourself in the foot for temporary ticket sale gains.
Welcome to the UK where your internet is well and truly censored.
I can understand premier league games being blocked because of potential revenue losses if people watch illegally at home and not go to watch at the stadium. Not every fan is a hardcore fan and I think they missed a trick by not introducing a Premier League Pass type system where they charge for those who want to watch at home rather than complete blackout. The stadiums will still sell out as football is massive in the UK and they'd make revenue from people watching at home too. Put ads in and charge a nominal fee/month.
The champions league and Europa league block is strange because they are televised games in UK, could quite easily go to a pub to watch. Maybe they are just jumping on the bandwagon of Premier League and hoping it would deter/stop people.
The fact of the matter is people were streaming long before the block and they will continue streaming after it. The best way is to tackle the situation by providing a reasonable alternative, blocking won't deter most people as there is always a way around it. Look at the way the music industry has changed its time TV had the same revolution.
Luckily no one watches soccer
Quote: "This is ridiculous when most Premier League games are not even available to watch live, legally in the UK, but they available are in other countries." UK = Joke of the World last couple of years, the inventors of Football (soccer) can't watch their own teams.
