IPTV possible with Satellite internet?

by dsmitherman1

My only broadband option is satellite and I have tried a few popular iptv providers with no luck. 12 to 25 Mbps download speed. HD will not work unfortunately. Is the horrible latency the issue? Usually in the low 600's!! If anyone knows of a SD IPTV provider please let me know! Thank you!

Problem with most satellite providers is the cap. When you are limited to ~60-80GB a month before they slow you down, you can not do much.

I have 10 MBps DSL, I live a mile from town. I run 2 boxes simultaneously with very little issues. Minor buffering on channel changes on some channels only thing I found, maybe like 2-3 seconds

Yes latency will kill it, http works ok since protocol will retransmit the packets, but udp protocols like video and voice on satellite are no good. Maybe you can try some SD quality channels and see.

You're probably not going to get anything to work, even SD, and if you do it'll be like 5-10GB per day with light usage on top of whatever data you're using.
