Do i need a vpn

by nedleeds

I recently purchase a month trial with a provider, everything seemed fine until I tried watch the liverpool v man city match on Sunday. My provider tells me the problem was with my speed. Could my ISP be throttling during time windows of major sporting events as I did a speed test and was getting over 40mbps. Would a VPN help?

I know some say your ISP can throttle but this goes through port 80. That is normal webtraffic. I think you will find out that the provider is being hit hard during that time, which is why you are seeing buffering. A VPN will encrypt the stream but it will also slow you down...so it might even be worse if its not your ISP. Who are you using for your IPTV stream?

I use NordVPN and recommend it but my current cable internet goes from 55 to about 20 when I apply the vpn to the router.

Well there's no harm in trying. Most VPN providers give a free trial of some sort, so maybe do some testing.

That been said make sure you find a reputable VPN provider with no logs and no throttling. I've heard good things about nordVPN , expressVPN and PIA.

I myself got StrongVPN but I really can't recommend

Do VPN services have a monthly download limit?

Could just be latency to the server supplying the stream to you.

You can try getting a provider that encrypts your connection end to end next time (the server I resell offers this). This may solve your issue too and just added extra security.

If you're interested:

You can run 2 connections simultaneously - 1 MAC based device like a dreamlink or MAG and one playlist type app like Perfect Player or Kodi etc. More value for your money!

Cheers!

It was one of the biggest epl games of the season so far.. Of course iptv providers were going to struggle. Sounds like that was your situation
