Nvidia Shield vs Formuler Z7+

by DrOllivander

Which would be better for iptv? I intend to use it for Vaders.

Well the problem is with the Shield you'll have to run either the Vaders APK, or one of the other IPTV apps. None of those are going to be nearly as good as the DOL2 app that comes on the Formuler/Dreamlink boxes, and there's no way to get the DOL2 app on the Shield (I've done some lengthly investigation). The Formuler however won't run regular android apps nearly as well as the Shield will.

Agreed. IPTV works just as good on a shield or mi box. Had both and worked fine. I am leery of the Chinese/Korean made boxes due to some issues I've been seeing from firmware updates. My shield has been rock solid and fast. And I use it for more than IPTV. If you just want to, then just get a Mibox and save some money

For Vaders? Buy the Shield. Which is honestly overkill for pure IPTV use, but better paying the premium on that then something that's going to lead to a slow/laggy experience (seriously, go check out some youtube videos that actually show what to expect out of load times with things like the EPG).

The only people that are going to suggest a Formuler box are re-sellers trying to make an extra buck selling their own, or ones that don't want to make the effort in steering you towards a proper Kodi setup. That and poor souls who got sucked into buying one without any direct and comparative experience.

I have both the Shield and the Z7+.

Unlike many folks around here, and after testing it a bit, i'm not very fond of the Z7+. The MyTvOnline app works great but the EPG is awfully slow and i can't even get it to work with the Live Events / Match Center, which makes the latter basically useless.

Not that i was expecting otherwise, but the Netflix app is terrible and crashes all the time as well. The Youtube app seems to work ok.

It depends on what you want to use it for really, for IPTV and IPTV only, it's okay i guess, but not worth the money IMO.

And btw, you can't even compare it to the Shield, different worlds really. Both Perfect Player and Kodi fly by comparison and i didn't see any noticeable difference in the service stability between them.

What about vs Buzz 3000. Currently using one and it's been great. Performance I am happy with. For those using shield are you using an apk or what method to access since I don't think it is Mac based.

The problem with the slow EPG on the Formuler Z7+ has been resolved with the latest updates

Don’t buy these exspensive boxes JUST for IPTV it is a waste of money.

The shield is a excellent device BUT if it’s sole purpose is only streaming IPTV then it’s overkill.

Same with these dedicate IPTV boxes they are fabricated bullshit and used to make a quick buck. IPTV will NOT play better on them.

To put it in perspective I am running IPTV ( multiple providers ) on a Hisense TV from 2014 with 700MB ram Android 4.2.2

Guess what ?!? IT PLAYS FINE with KODI ( CEMC ) and Perfect Player APP

Don’t be fooled.

Service wise IPTV will play the same on everything.

If someone tells you " this box will play IPTV the best " then walk way.

Same with someone telling you " This IPTV service doesn't buffer " walk away........

Lying.

You can run IPTV on a Android smartphone of 3 years ago, so no difference to how IPTV plays on them. Don't trust those who paid $300 for a box that does same on IPTV as a $50 box. Now for gaming etc, Shield used to be top, but getting old now.
