As long as you use Ethernet instead of Wifi, you should be fine. The setup in Smart IPTV is great and will load as quick or a slight bit slower than MAG. I just bought a new 4K Samsung.....there's no way I'm putting a box on it. If you need an IPTV service let me know, I'll set you up with a Trial.
It's really dependant on if you are only using it for IPTV...and your preferences. If you want a provider like experience, I would recommend a MAG box, Dreamlink T2/Formuler or BuzzTV....just can't beat the look and functunality. Shield is great if you plan on using Kodi/Netflix/Amazon in 4K...you won't have any power issues. But, just for IPTV? The app on your 4K TV will work just fine ( I have used the app on my 4K Samsung, just didn't like the look or function of it). Hope this helps,

Smart IPTV (about $10 a month for IPTV) PLEX (and find a reputable Plex share...you can PM me if you want a great recommendation...about $2 a month) NETFIX (get the UHD plan for 4K, $13.99 a month) Also get some badass internet....100mb down minimum or none of this really matters.
Load times are moot. Unless you're the type of person who seriously can't wait 2 god damn seconds, a Mag will probably give you the closest experience you will get a cable box experience. They do one thing and they do it well. You could go with a cheap android box, S905X. I usually recommend a Yundoo Y6 from amazon as they are about 57 bucks and come with 2 gigs of ram, dual band and have 32 gigs of onboard storage. It's 100% compatible with Xannytechs firmware on freaktab. This will let you use SPMC which will give you more customization for your tv, but it will also introduce more headache.
Ask yourself, do you want something that will just point and click and always work, or do you want something that you have to fuck around with all the god damn fucking time?
just buy an nvidia shield and be done with that nonsense . TVirl and Android Live Channels or Perfect Player will be a great addition to your IPTV experience. Way better, IMO that the mag box, or the emu, or the Smart IPTV app that u get from LG.
I would also recommend using an IPTV provider with a good EPG ie I’m a sports nut so I use VADERS, however their EPG is garbage, so I use PM-CLUB to get my Vaders as they use their own EPG which is miles better.
smart iptv is great and simple to use and navigate But I have downloaded kodi on my xbox one x and with simple iptv client , channels switching is much faster than smart iptv on my tv other than that dont see the use of kodi addon, dificult to navigate with xbox controller , you have to turn on xbox, change input .. So I belive there are faster boxes than smart iptv app but would like input from people who have mag boxes compare with smart iptv app
I use the t95z with Android 7.1 and a m8 with Android 4.2 both work great with IPTV. I also use stbiptv on my smausing tv find it no where near as good. No need for the mag box.

Live events last night alone was updated perfectly!!! The channels that had nothing going on were blank the ones that had something going on had perfect listings. I’m on east coast time (EST) so just a note I do have to EPG SHIFT by 5 hours. So if you’re on PST it’ll be an EPG VALUE of 2 to get the right listings
Also I prepaid with PM for 1 year so it brought my cost down to something stupid, like $8 or something ridiculous
But epic is also pretty good, or used to be, along with flawless. I just think PM CLUB is super crisp.
As others have said no new hardware needed just use smart iptv. As for plex I use pm club which offer probably the highest quality plex service out there. Ditch the native plex on LG tv and use xplay as it direct plays everything.

Also, Netflix is crucial for an LG oled. Reason? 4K content. Ain’t no way in hell someone with a Plex library is trying to stream nonstop 4K content to you. It’s mostly 1080p. If you have an LG oled and are too cheap to afford a Netflix subscription to show off 4K content you probably should just return your tv :)
The apps will play fine and the differences between navigation are not as drastic as people make out.
As a man who has tried every setup on my LG OLED I will tell you the people that recommend smart IPTV are actually giving the best advice, there is no way in hell I would put an android box on this (although I have multiple dreamlinks). The speed at which you can switch from regular cable to IPTV to PLEX etc makes it a pain in the ass to grab another remote or switch away from native LG apps on the TV, as the interface and speed of app loading is amazing
Stick with Smart IPTV also download PLEX and subscribe a PLEX share for all of your movie needs Keep Netflix around to showcase beautiful 4K/Dolby Vision on your OLED when friends and family come over
