Looking for help picking the right box for IPTV plus other services.

by Yorik__brown

Hi everyone,

So i've started researching IPTV recently as I'm tired of paying Rogers obscene amounts of money for a handful of channels and i keep hearing about IPTV as a great and cheap option. I think I have a basic understanding of how it works, where i'm confused is the mode of getting it to my TV...

I was initally going to look into an android box, but it seems to get IPTV on one I'd go through Kodi? From what Iv'e seen/read, it works fine but it's not as smooth and user friendly. The other option being a device like a Mag254?

My issue is I don't have a lot of money to drop on this venture, so i'm looking for a box that will function for IPTV with a good interface that is kid/wife friendly, but also will function as our Smart TV and can run netflix/youtube and play our downloaded torrent files. What is the upside downside to the different options for running IPTV but also getting the other functionality we are looking for?

Thanks for any help, sorry if my questions make no sense this is all new to me.

SmartIPTV app 5.99 and save the cash for ventures into Android boxes after 6-12 months.

Check into a Dreamlink T1 plus. It has the stalker middleware just like a mag box. It's made to run IPTV and apks. Mobdro, Terrarium etc

I have a buzztv 3000 box and its great. Similar to the dreamlink boxes but no buggy epg. Its Android 6.0 so you get the best of both worlds, built in iptv software as well as running kodi, perfect player or any other iptv apps.

I also sell service too. If u are trying to cut the cable our product is able to run on up to 5 devices on a single sub. Making it super cheap.

Pm me for more details and i have no issues with helping u out along the way.

I'm also in Canada and I bought a Beelink GT1 off Gearbest a few weeks ago for my parents, it was about $90 CAD plus another $25 for DHL to ship it here. They're loving it so far.

I chose it because it had a lot of development going on for it on Freaktab, which was reassuring to me on the off chance I would ever have to fix it by flashing a ROM (as you would an Android phone/tablet).

Pair it with an air mouse and the interface is more or less exactly the same as that on their smartphones. It will definitely handle Netflix and YouTube as well as any torrented media you have.

BuzzTv Xpl 3000 works really well and you can also install netflix and other apps as some would have mentioned. +1 for this device but if money is an issue, almost any android device with android 6.0 and up with atleast 2gb of ram is capable of giving a fairly good experience.

When you get the device you can visit iptvbosstv.com for a trial on EPicstream

First I think you should take your time a decide on what features you need before running out to buy a box. You say you dont have a lot of money for this venture but if your paying $50-80/month in rogers just cut your cable, wait a month or 3 and buy a decent box that fits your needs. Honestly you probably won't find the "perfect box". While an andriod box may fit your needs I wouldn't say it's as kid/wife friendly as a buzztv or a t2. Dedicated iptv boxes do iptv well but may lack other ways. For example, the buzz uses a mobile version of Netflix so searching is a pain without a mouse. Take your time and do your research. You'll get a lot of "advice " on Reddit that can be pretty subjective so tske it with a grain of salt.

I watch epic streams through my smart tv. Much easier and don't have the ugly looking box in front of the TV. If you would like a link please let me know. You won't be disappointed

Don't go dreamlink their firmware is terrible and buggy. Best option for you with the details given would be a decent android box with STB emu app. It emulates the mag box you have mentioned and the box will then allow your other apps to run as well. Best to avoid Kodi if you can for iptv
