On windows, I'm using kodi with nextPVR as the backend server with an m3u list. Recording seems to work fine

The easiest option is to set up tvheadend

There is a alternative now as long as you are running a Plex media Server with Plex pass. A new tool is available for IPTV to trick Plex to thinking it has a Tv card attached without the need of TVheadend.

Try Emby ( http://emby.media )

Has anyone tried a usb game capture card with Windows plus hdmi splitter and a Mag box? This solution may also be limited to recording what you are watching. Another simple solution like someone here mentioned is to get a Dreamlink Dlite box and microsd card, same thing applies you record what you're watching. There is another external box on Amazon that can turn your IPTV box on at a specific time and record to a separate external usb SSD drive. This option is more money because of the external SSD. Another bad aspect if you're not there is with my Crowntv provider after 1 hour of inactivity it gives me a warning and then shuts off the channel. So the simplest and cheapest solution for me to try is the graphics card or Dlite box with microsd. Keep in mind not all channels offer catchup so that's why I'm also looking for a simple solution to record a Brazil show.

has anybody got telly to work on windows?

Easiest way to record is to buy a box that allows u to record iptv directly.

Buzztv3000 Dreamlink boxes Z7+

To name a few

If you are on Android or Windows, ProgTV allows you to record. I'm using a shield tv and it runs really well.

Most providers offer a catch-up feature, if having issues recording (most providers don't support) then it's something to consider

Hi can someone with a Dreamlink Dlite or similar box try recording a channel that has no EPG but do the recording at an advanced time? If it's possible, try to leave it on the main menu, I wonder if the box is smart enough to switch to that channel at the specific time. Thanks, the Brazil channel I'm trying to record doesn't have EPG. I have not bought this box yet, I'm waiting for them to fix the slow epg which should happen in the next couple months.
