TVirl or Alternatives? Android TV Love Channels w/ EPG

by Strider3141

I guess I'm just asking if anyone has been using something else. Specifically I'm looking for something to integrate Live Channels with IPTV and the EPG. I'm using xtream to create a custom list, and that updates daily; but feeding the list into TVirl, it only has a day of data or so then it needs to be refreshed.

I know the dev is working on auto updating for this, but I'm wondering if anyone has been using any alternative for the time being, or if anyone has some sort of automated solution (no root and waifu friendly).

Just open for discussion, no complaining or anything, I don't want to hear "just use Kodi" or "use perfect player" (which is anything but perfect btw) because I have multiple sources and Live Channels is beautiful for mixing them. Thanks y'all

Dev been working on that for a year, wouldn't hold my breath. FYI it is possible to combine different lists in Xtream. I also find perfect player kind of bad from a UX point of view, but it's fast and it works. Kodi on the other hand can be customized with some really good looking skins and modified endlessly, but is really cumbersome for just channel surfing around.

often it depends on the providers EPG and how many days they give you. you may be able to play around with the URL to get more days of EPG coverage, and in turn forcing you to refresh TVIRL less. you could also try using the xtream sourced EPG instead of your providers EPG. Although this often takes more customising and EPG mapping in xtream. lastly, you can use something like iptv-epg.com and build your own EPG, which can be fed into xtream, or used on its own

I use tvheadend as the backend and integrate hdhomerun OTA channels with vaders and all works very well under kodi. It does take some work to setup but once it is setup it runs fairly smooth and you can automate the epg updates. Recordings work very well also. Here is a screenshot . The first 4 channels are my local OTA channels from the hdhomerun.

ZalTV has been my go-to player for a long time... simple, easy to use and specifically designed for large screens and TV remote controls.... you don't need to enter long URLs on your TV(s) or use URL shorteners anymore... just add your playlist & EPG on their website and get a short activation code to use on your TV(s)... edit your playlist & EPG when needed online and it auto updates your app on your TV(s)... TV guide, channels’ description of what’s being aired and a Favorites’ tab are a few features worth mentioning https://youtu.be/O-1bN-jTn04
