i do this, something running enigma2, its smooth once setup but its a little learning curve if your not used to it
but day to day for everyone else in the house its the same as sky

just pick a UK package and get a Mag Box or use their STB emulator.
I use BuzzTv, great MAG box and the EPG has a solid layout and allows you to PVR shows.
