Any sport IPTV that has HEVC support?

by PythonGunner

I dont understand why IPTV's dont support this. Most mobile CPU's these days have native HEVC and PC's can always download the codec. I mean half the bitrate must be pretty beneficial. They could have a mix of HEVC and AVC.

Because the amount of overhead to switch everything over is massive. If you don't own your own channels, than you need to have a system setup to encode every single stream in realtime. Do you know how much computing power is required to encode 1000+ channels, even if they are only 720p.

There is one provider that has switched over to hevc, and if things go well for them others will probably take notice. But you must also remember, that hardware with hevc decoding has only been available for the last 2 years, and the mag250-254 have the majority of the market. It would mean pissing off a lot of customers to upgrade.

Why? Who cares? for 7-8 bucks a months, does the job, can't expect latest tech on illegal service.

for the services, theres such little value popositions added to re-stream in HEVC. theyre usually buying and restreaming from a source who does not have HEVC. why would they spend the money to upgrade servers to transcode these streams, when they can just pass them along untouched with the current hardware.

i think we will begin to see more VOD in hevc as the providers have to keep and stream it seperratly from the live streams. once the upstrean providers have HEVC streams, so will the rest of the providers.

because 90% of brit people who watch IPTV in europa are over 65 and watch eastenders etc ....that where the long term money is not in floorless and fib and other numbers on a UK cell door ,,, people use shops and higher tech to offset poor housing and lifestyles ..
