IPTV on Shield

by candycoatedraptor

Hello,

I have just purchased a Nvidia Shield Console and am looking to use this as our households primary media device for television, movies and sports.

At this stage we just have a Netflix subscription but I am willing to put in some time and work so this can work well for our home.

I am not familiar with IPTV's as in the past we simply just had a cable connection.

Also it is important to note we are in New Zealand with VDSL (approx. 100 mbps down) - fibre available soon.

Any help or guidance would be very much appreciated.

Where would be a good point for reference to start setting up?

Kind Regards

Good point of reference is this very sub forum and the search function, luckily you have the rollsroyce of Android box’s so really you have the pick of the litter when it comes to iptv addons and kodi addons that will run iptv. Again reading will take you a long way though, unfortunately you won’t find to many people besides resellers that will guide you without bias though as usually that is who offer suggestions.. cheers friend and good luck

I have a shield and I've tested out kodi, perfectplayer, stbemu, and my providers own app.

My "go to" setup however is TVirl and the Shield's own Live Channels app. I like the guide layout this way and the best part is I can use the Shield remote to change channels by voice command, "Go to CNN, HBO, etc..." so i never need a channel number or anything.

Am from nz with an almost identical setup. I don't think you actually get 100mbps from your vdsl connection do you? I range between 15-30 depending on the day.

But agree with what's being said, read up and sign up to a few trial accounts even if you have to pay for them. The few bucks will save you a lot of pain at the end, especially what works for your system and connection

Few providers here also offer local channels should you want those. Or def try out the different sports offering between providers to ensure everything you want is covered. For me nrl was a big requirement, so although my main provider does the basics real well, I've got a backup sub just for nrl.

Good luck!

When I lived in NZ I had no problems with most IPTV services with North American servers. Link to the US is fairly good from all NZ isps.

Is there an IPTV for Kodi with only free to air channels?

I have a nvidia shield and dreamlink t2. Both wired. I find the shield buffers and stutters much more than the dreamlink for smooth iptv usage. I run stmb mag 254 and kodi add on the shield and still not running smooth which is frustrating. Also the simple remote is horrible for playback on iptv.

If u r primarily gonna use the box for iptv then get a specific iptv box with a real remote control.

I prefer stb emulator on my shield. I tried perfect player but it didn't work so well. Could be the provider though I'm not sure. But with stb emulator everything worked so nice. I did have to remap a few buttons though.

I would suggest doing trial from any provider who will offer it to you and find the one that suits you best.

That being said we offer a free 24hr trial https://xtremestreams.com/
