So I just found out about tvheadend and that it can be used as a dvr. My questions is can this be done through kodi alone, or do i need some kind of special setup? I just subscribed to Eternal TV and would love dvr. I run kodi either through my xbox one or android tv. Any help would be appreciated.

You’ll need a TVHeadend server. I’ve set one up on my raspberry pi 3B. It’s powerful enough to record and stream two feeds (without transcoding). The official forums are a good point to start TVHeadend tutorials and guides

libreelec version of KODI has TVH. I use TVH to pull FTA SAT channels. export the m3u and merge with my iptv m3u then use pvr simple client. sounds more complicated than it is
