SkySports losing All The Major Rights

by fooali

With the news that Skysports has lost the rights to La Liga this week makes it even more absurd that the subscription price has gone up yet again for next season. If they continue to fleece customers like this it will only help to increase the popularity of IPTV streams.

  • No La Liga
  • No Bundesliga
  • No Ligue 1
  • No Seria A
  • No Champions League

No one really cares about anything but the prem in the UK though - that's how they justify it. They will have clearly looking at the viewer numbers and decided its not worth it. Still, I hope they do lose subscribers.

Sorry but SkySports UK

Never had the rights to Bundesliga Never had the rights to Ligue 1 Never had the rights to Seria A

I am saying the price rise is worth it NO but helps if we stick to the facts

They also will show more Premier League than ever before and as far as I understand have all the best picks for the next 3 years.

For La Liga there is always a chance Eleven Sports will sell the rights to BT or Sky Sports or they could set up their own channel.

Fact is no one watches La Liga apart from El Classico, and theyll buy the rights to show those games anyway.

Bundesliga isnt competetive, nor is Ligue 1..so no one watches those either, and apart from this year Seria A has been a one horse race for a long time...Juventus have won it 6/7 years on the trot.

Sky arent stupid, they know where the money is in the UK, and thats the EPL.

DresdanPI

BT Sports has the right to Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Seria A . Not Sky.

We should focus on what Sky Sports has people ;)

128 Live premier league games

EFL 148 football league games from championship, league 1-2

The English League Cup total of 15 games.

Major League Soccer

Eredivisie

Chinese Super League

International football from the home nations Scotland,Wales, Northern lre, Republic lre and highlights of England games.

When it comes to football Sky has been going down shitter for years, but you have to remember they focus on alot of other sports which keep alot of people happy, rugby, F1, darts, boxing, cricket, speed way, American football, etc

I know alot of people who have dumped Sky, but are now using NOWTV which is a SKY streaming service where you can buy very cheap passes on ebay and save a shed ton of money compared to if you were doing it via sub on Sky.

SKy has failed to keep up with the technology and streaming, They called Netflix a "flash in the pan" and "who wants to watch stuff online"

It's really a no brainer when it comes down to Premier League games, 128 with SKY or 380 from a IPTV service

La Liga and Italian Serie A: have a different set up money wise, lets each club do deals for each game, fine if your Real or Barca but other teams don't get a look in. Which results in the top teams from these leagues will always be on via a IPTV service.

Aint sure about the Bundesliga but again I'm sure all the big teams will be covered, as alot easier for IPTV services to provide games from around the world.

The facts are if SKY want to get with the real world, they need to allow people within the UK to have access to watch every premier league game and not block it. If they offered a service where you paid i.e £50 to get a season pass to watch every game of your favorite club, or £150 for every single league game, people would jump all over that.

Until that days happens, it's clear what my choice is will be.
