Picture quality is the same. It just depends o the interface you like.
When you are streaming the picture is downscaled its the same with all IPTV I will not make a differences with u use to stream on mate
VOD and catch up work on the real boxes vs kodi and emulation, especially with the recent change in xstreams backend for tv series VOD.
The apps are generally limited to the boxes capabilities and firmware. All things being equal, I find that it comes down to personal preference. The way you can access VOD/Catchup etc, and the EPG layout. IPTV boxes claim to be more stable with some providers and some providers claim their service is better with a some IPTV boxes. Kodi has issues with some services as do other apps. Only one I see mentioned a lot that I have not tried yet is the IPTV Smarters app for TV boxes, but can't find the TV Box version in the app store or anywhere else, only the mobile version.

Go with a dedicated IPTV box. Especially with MAGs...
I've been using an iptv box called Easybox IPTV box . it works great!
Both are same but in my side stb is best cause iam using talentiptv 1 year +
here I am getting good quality without buffering
Picture quality CAN be different. The stream is the same but the box can make a difference. My T1 was not nearly as nice as my Z7+ on the same TV. I get more pixelation and stutter in kodi and even sometimes in other APKs compared to the Z7 or my Vu+Zero4k.
The biggest difference, though, is ease of use and the UI. Having a proper remote control with proper EPG function, catchup and PVR functionality is a nice feature of most STBs.
