A few problems with Formuler Z7+

by plantemathieu

I purchased a Formuler Z7+ and have been using it for a few days. It's great, but I have a few problems. When I record a show, if the stream buffers, the recording stops. I also can't record weekly episodes of a show without having to remember to schedule it. Is there another box I should look at? Thanks for your help.

Are you using Wi-Fi? If so, have you looked at homeplugs/powerlines? Also, before trying a different box, have you tried any different providers?

Epic and Vader have pretty extensive Catchup available...is there a reason you want the shows recorded to a hard drive? Can't you just use catchup, VOD or something like Terrarium to watch whatever you are trying to record?

I'll try it for sure. But I purchased the Z7+ because of its My Online TV app, which is the only reason they can charge more for it. I might return it.

I bought refurbished for 140, not too bad. It's really awesome when it works. The timeshifting function works really well, with pause and rewind. But yeah, I can probably find something cheaper that does the same thing.

Well, I ended up returning the Z7+, and I'm kind of regretting it. It had a lot of problems, but the new Mag256 I replaced it with isn't much better. No proper working EPG, timeshift is buggy, interface is ugly (but I knew that before buying it)... I might keep looking, but I'm not sure it gets much better than those two.

Have you looked at Kodi?

It has very advanced PVR

Also who is your provider that will help people help you

Try IPTV Extreme Pro app, its 99 cents. There's an option to set number of retries if there is a problem with recording, it starts at 10, 50, 100, etc.

You're probably thinking of Tivo which can record a whole season easily, I have yet to find anything in Iptv as good as Tivo.

I have the Dreamlink Dlite and the Buzz box but I'm not convinced either are 100% reliable for recording so I'd like to use the feature sparingly and rely on catchup or other sources.

Honestly if you're in the window of being able to return to get something else, I would do that. I bought a z7+ at launch and have had nothing but problems. Wifi, standby, EPG, timeshift, etc. It's been a headache. They've released updates that have fixed some of these problems but it's clear they didn't release a complete product. They rushed it to the market and patched problems after the fact. The box still has its issues and for a box that's over $100 it's just not worth it. I'd get something that's more polished.
