I use Fab with perfect Player on my MiBox. The android apps they have are also fine.
VLC or kodi are probably your best bets for the Windows PC. As for the MiBox...you can do so much! IPTV Smarters, PerfectPlayer, IPTV GSE, kodi, STBEmu...it really comes down to personal preference on the interface. Also, I would imagine that Fab has their own APK available for you to install on your MiBox, so that would be worth a try as well.
For Windows 7 definitely VLC, there are other solutions like Kodi but it's more heavy on PC resources... For Mibox you could use perfect player( very easy to use), GSE IPTV, IPTV extreme pro( my favorite), many others.
Another that hasn't been mentioned for the Mi Box is TVirl

I've been testing out a number of different apps and solutions on my Nexus Player with Fab as I have a lot of customers who want to add the service to an Android box they already own. I'm currently on to using their Kodi add-on and I'm not sure I'd recommend it. Each solution has its positives and negatives. I think I'll be trying STBEmu next, I just hate the setup process lol
Does Fab's web player have catchup? If not, I have 8gb ram on my old Win 7 laptop and this free android emulator works fine: http://www.memuplay.com/
Then install Fab's apk or any other iptv android app you like.
How do you like Fab, how is the reliability, support, and does their catchup work well for you? Thanks!

Kodi Addon for catch up if have Kodi.
Web Player also if works fine, you using the XC standard one or their new one.
Join their forum if so if a paid member, also knowledge base for some guides/gens.
Hands down the best way to use the service is Kodi with the IPTV Simple Client. Looks like a real cab guide. Especially when using the Bello skin.
The fab IPTV has a section for catchup when you install the repo and the add on.
I use VLC on my old Windows 8 PC and that works great.
Okay useless for catch up but perfect for watching live sports
