Is Mag 250 a good universal choice for IPTV?

by fenbekus

I’ve found a good listing for a used MAG 250 on a local selling site, and it comes with 1 month of TV as well. But I wonder, because I’ve seen that there are also 254, 255 and 256 models, not even talking about 3xx and 4xx. Is 250 enough for most IPTV services? I don’t want to lock myself up to that one guy who sells it because who knows if he won’t be gone in the future.

Mag 250 is too old

It's too old honestly. With the advent of 4k just around the corner, you should probably look at some of the other boxes, like a Formuler Z7+ or a Buzz or Dreamlink, as they are 4k capable boxes. If you don't see yourself getting a 4k tv anytime in the future, get at least a Mag 322, as it can do HEVC. I own a Mag 254 myself, which is now considered ancient, and come the new year I will be upgrading to something that can handle 4k.

Mag 322 is the standard now. I wouldn't buy any older models.

90% of out customers have IPTV on a MAG250 if you just want to watch TV .... the MAG can take eight separate supplies

Don't go for the MAG250, its quite old and slow. Also it is the one most knocked off by cheap chinese manufacturers.

Go for the mag254 or 256. Mag254 is not much more and is noticeably faster.
