Help! Device recommendations

by thatsdelightful

A fucking awkward situation (where I wish I hadn’t bothered), I’m sure you folks will all appreciate. I have a Hisense TV and have been using an app called SmartIPTV with a premium subscription to superior-hosting. Worked great, so much so that I got my dad a Hisense, got his sub sorted and he’s never been happier. Then I got one for my father-in Law..

Everyone is really happy, all works then...

Just this week it seems SmartIPTV app has been completely removed. Cutting the story short I contacted the developer who stated Hisense is no longer supported. Fuck!

Out of the three of us, I survived because I installed an iptv app on Xbox which actually is really good.

I’m now deliberating what to do about my dad and father in-law. Can anyone recommend a device based on requirements

  • IPTV only does not need to play local files / media centre stuff.

  • Does not need to record

  • Can connect via Ethernet

  • Stable - I can’t have a situation like the above again, and also needs to be easy for me to support them if I have to.

  • Must have a clear EPG

  • Easy user interface with standard remote control

Any recommendations on a basic box I can load a M3U and EPG url onto ?

Thanks in advance!

I would recommend a Mag254 device. It does all the things you need, and it's very easy to use.

Shame smart iptv app is been removed, having a samsung tv and is the best app for iptv , fast, easy navigation and most importantly the picture quality is better than using external boxes .. I have a shield and smart iptv while is ok , the picture quality is dull and washed , also on my apple tv all iptv apps are rubish . Native app on tv is fantastic picture quality, no need hdmi input Hopefully in the future tvs have specs similar to nvidia and apple tv for better dev support

Android apps are shit for iptv , the only one half decent is live tv channels integrated on android tv but dont support groups if you have big list of channels . On apple tv as well all iptv apps are crap too

I'm a reseller and I honestly haven't had one complaint with a Firestick and the app Smarters Pro! It's simple, clean and modern. Firesticks are perhaps the cheapest and one of the most stable solutions I know of. They are wireless though, so don't quite fit what you are after but worth looking into. What's more you have a plug and play service with you, take it to bed, on holiday....!
