I’m relatively new to the IPTV scene but have tried doing my research and it gets very confusing the deeper you go.
So, to keep it simple I decided to download stbemu onto my fire stick which was nice and easy.
The next step is to find a provider? Is it as easy as signing up to Helix and putting the portal settings into the app?

I was in your shoes not long back! Finally finding my feet though now (I think) ha!
From what I can see you have 2 main setups:
Mag setups - they use a MAC address either of a physical device or of an emaulator like STBemu ! You provide your Mac to your provider and they set you up on their portal.
Link setups - they use a login or will provide you a link which contains your username and password you out into your app. From my experience there is a lot more choice of apps with these.
It's very easy to put apps onto firesticks too that you can't find in the app store so don't think your limited to what you can see there.

Pretty much, yes. When checking out in Helix, you also need to enter your Mac address that you will find in STBemu.
