Month at a time? or Year subscription?

by fastreacter

Haven't purchased my IPTV yet but I'm wondering with servers having the chance to possibly drop, should I save money and get a year or play it safe and pay month to month. I used to use Ballstreams, paid for a year and once they went down I didn't receive the rest of the money I initially invested. Thoughts?

Eveytime I see these question asked it reminds of client I had years go when I dabbed in personal training. She wanted to lose weight, and at the end of our first initial appointment I laid her out a very basic diet plan to try which included eating non-instant steel cut oatmeal.

Next day I go over to her house and she literally has an entire section of her kitchen dedicated to store a huge amount of dried Oatmeal. I'm talking uncountable lbs of the stuff stacked to the brim. I guess she got it in her head that since oatmeal was notably cheaper then most of the foods on my provided list, she'd take it upon herself to center her entire diet around it in the name of saving $$$. Couldn't resist bursting from excitement while explaining and breaking down to me the money she just saved herself on a "this is what I'm going to spend on food for the next year" basis.

Turns out she had never actually ate oatmeal growing up, and wasn't a fan of it once she tried it for more then a day...at all. A week latter every bit of that oatmeal was comically piled up in quite the yard spectacle at the trash pickup outside.

TLDR story for some I guess, but yeah. Same surrounding principle applies imo. People decide they want to cord, and then usually with the help of making a wrong initial assumption, start off on the wrong foot by trying to save hypothetical money pre-planning something they really shouldn't be concerning themselves with yet in the first place.

Providers drop everyday, come with new name, keep the money, etc etc. So with older established providers, start with 1-3 months see for yourself, then 6 months max, not that its big money, 40-60 a year even if half is lost, nothing to cry about, thats usual monthly fee for a month from cable, so you will not be in minus.

Possibly drop? You mean probably drop!

That being said, it's a numbers game. I usually assume that I am safe for 2-3 months (at least for established providers), and may be okay for a few more. So do the math and decide your own tolerance for how upset you will be if they disappear on you.

FWIW... in the last year, I've subbed with 5 providers. Of these, 3 are now defunct (or going there... looking at you FAB). 1 was crap that burned me (ahem... Vaders... ahem). And 1 is still rocking (CCIPTV... Nice!)

So now I am with 4 providers + what's left of FAB. I took a one year with CCIPTV (they still seem stable to me), and cheap 3 or 6 month subs with the others (Twisted, Helix, Epicstreams). I guarantee that some of these won't make it to maturity, but I'm okay with that... I've planned it in.

I'm sure that others won't agree with my logic and that's okay... because I'm okay with it. You need to be okay with whatever method you pick... but I guarantee that 12 months is too aggressive.

Can you afford to write off the money should your provider only last 6 months?

Is 1 years service a similar cost to 1 month legitimate service and would anything beyond that month be classed as a bonus?

The general rule is don't give anyone more money than you are willing to lose!

Most people in here will tell you to never go longer than month to month. Its smart since providers can go tits up tomorrow and you can bet your ass you won't get any refund.

However, while I am one of those people that say go month to month, I am also someone who has paid for 3, 6 and 12 month subscriptions, so take what I say with a grain of salt! Haha.

MY general rule is to take one month when trying a service for the first time. If I like the service, I will renew for 3 months. If the price of 3 months is close to the price of 6 months or a year (and this sometimes happens with smaller providers), then I will sometimes bite the bullet and take the deal.

Obviously much cheaper for 12 month one.but guys are right on month to month if your unsure mixing subs is good as well. I sell some nudes if you would like to try a month. Both well established

I would start out month to month. But after a while if you like the service and it seems to be stable and reliable then you might take a chance on a multi-month sub. By then you have probably already saved so much money over cable or satellite that even if your service goes away you have saved enough money and losing a couple of paid months won't be such a big deal.

Month to month and do research on the providers. Stick with the ones with good support and that are somewhat reliable. They all have issues so You can't just get one that will work 100% all of the time unless you subscribe to SlingTV or similar which are a lot more expensive with all the channels they offer.

For example IPTVSubs has no support. No support channel, there Twitter page hasn't even been updated in ages, they will never answer a support ticket.

Most people here will tell you go month to month and I at this time feel it is best. Take for example my mistake. I got Vaders from a reseller for 50.00 a year! Thats a savings of 130.00 a year! But I have continuing problems which are documented here . I have paid a price for giving up the leverage(?) I would have had for better (maybe)customer service as I don't have any now. The one year sub continues and I have already gone far enough in the subscription to say I have saved money but is it worth it? When my sub runs out or if Vaders cuts it off or my reseller cuts it off I will not ever consider Vaders again. Maybe at the 15.00 month I would been happier??

By the way I have 2 other iptvs at 5.00 month as back up and they both far out perform the premium service Vaders.
