You can try and app like Bokada or Block-this. It acts a VPN and blocks traffic to known AD sites.

You can get Mobdro ad free version apk that I use myself jut google it and you should come across it
Install Vanced youtube. It's a modified youtube apk with zero ads and some nice features such as background playback.
Updates come a few hours after each new YouTube release.
Root is not requires, but is nice to prevent double apps.
I don't know about mobdro tho.
