Smart IPTV (app) vs Formuler Z7+

by geekmiki

Hi,

I recently started using Smart IPTV on a Samsung TV, after using Kodi for a while (Simple IPTV Client and Ultrabox). Even though, the GUI is meh on Smart IPTV, changing channels is much faster and in the end I'm quite satisfied with it.

I've been wondering if it would be worth the 100$+ upgrading to a Formuler Z7+ and if the overall experience is that much better on a dedicated box.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

I love the formuler z7+ I just got. Super fast and easy to use, 4K and HDR

SmartIPTV don't support 4K and catchup, and it's pain if you have like thousands of VOD, try SmartSTB for SamsungTV, better than any Formuler and thank me later

if you were to get a cable box from a big cable provider, that is equal to having a formuler z7+

the android part is a bonus to it

Its probably an impossible question, but how future-proof is a Formuler Z7+ box?

I'm currently using the Smart IPTV app on my Samsung, and like others am satisfied. I need something to use on my bedroom TV however.

Since most of my viewing is usually Plex, I setup the bedroom sets with Rokus. Works great for Plex, great for YouTubeTV, not great for IPTV. At least not anymore anyway. But when Roku restricted IPTV the Rokus at least still were usable. I don't want a similar fate with the Formuler Z7+.

Maybe a cheap Android box or a Fire TV running Smart IPTV might be a better bet for me I don't know.

If you just want to enjoy watching TV and not mess around, stick to SmartIPTV.

If you wanna die on support forums and have silly problems with remotes, crap software etc, get a Android box.

A box like the Formuler will give you a more cable like experience for sure. Dedicated remote with fully functioning EPG, ability to timeshift (pause/rewind live TV), recording, etc. Channel changes should be just as fast or faster than your Smart IPTV app. Lots of benefits to dedicated boxes.

I can't tell you, though, whether those things offer enough value for you to spend the money on them. That's a personal preference. The picture quality, buffering, etc will be roughly the same, its really just the functionality that would be improved.

Use both and prefer Z7 with Harmony Ultimate.
