bulk delete channels from EPG

by squ1bs

I have about 4k channels and am interested in maybe 500 of them. The channel manager in kodi lets me delete them one by one. Anyone know an addon to bulk delete? I would be happy manually editing an xml file, if I could find the file in question...

I'm using m3u-epg-editor.py does the job very well.

I think you just need to delete the actual channel and epg won't populate you can try xtreame editor. It's a one time thing

Easy editing an m3u, if channel isn't there then it's not giving it an EPG, atleast that's how it works on these MAG type boxes. I've got my Vaders cut down to about 550 channels, easy to figure out what you can delete and how you can add your own, I've actually got a few hundred channels added to my cut down list of channels not available on Vaders that I've combined with my main m3u. If you load a playlist the same way you do on these boxes and give it an EPG link then I'm sure it should work the same way.

As already noted, editing all the extra crap out for free is easy enough if you want to take the time and once you grab the file. Personally I just use notepad++ and quickly nuke all the channel groups/vod I don't want instead of having my Kodi reset every time they make a back end change. Granted you have to repeat the process again if/when they actually add something extra you want.

Link to a DL for the file is usually found in whatever CS platform a provider uses.

I use Xtream-editor.com which is a superb piece of software but you have to buy an annual license. I use it in conjuction with Smart IPTV app on my tv, from 4k channels down to 400 all with EPG etc. Its a web based app that allows you to edit streams, groups, picons, EPG etc.

If using IPTV simple client and Kodi (possibly other combinations but this one I can vouch for) you can go into your PVR and TV settings from Kodi (not from IPTV simple client) and in there you should be able to find Group Manager. If the channels you’re uninterested in are grouped, this could be the solution.

I’ve not used the below tool but came across it recently, maybe can help if the above doesn’t (may be out of date at this point though):
