IPTV router upgrade needed?

by USCEngineer

Having issues with buffering using vader on firestick. Switch from their APK to perfect player which helped a lot but had issues yesterday during gameday and VOD content always fails when not on PC. Loaded VOD on Kodi and it never works. Something about stream cant be found or played.

  • Current have 4 sticks and a kid playing xbox online
  • I currently have netgear c3700 modem/wifi combo.
  • 100 mb service normally pings at 60-80.
  • I switched PP decoded to HW+ this morning. Should i change it back to auto or see how it does?
  • Changed server to always be the same
  • Should i hardwire my firestick to the modem?
  • Should i buy a better modem?
  • Should i buy a formuler z7?
  • Anything else to consider?

If you’ve got all those devices connected via wireless to stream IPTV, then you’ve got a problem. Your router doesn’t support MIMO(Multiple In Multiple Out), which is important when you have a lot of devices connected wirelessly. You can try splitting the load across the 2.4 and 5ghz networks by giving them different names. Otherwise you’ll want to get a router that can support that much traffic.

The router is not the issue. My guess you have gen1 firestick stick? Get the gen2 much better for IPTV and VPN options.

It never works? You'll need to check with your provider for their own setup guide for the stick.

Firstly give your firestick a static IP Addy on the router then change buffer settings to 4 on the firestick PP. When a stream starts I pause it the 30 second before the buffer bar fills up. Press play and away we go. If you press back on the remote you can actually monitor the stream buffer

Get away from Vaders + Firestick. That's your problem..

Download a free WiFi analyzer app for your phone and see what channels neighboring routers are using. You have 12channels to choose from without 2.4ghz and you could be competing with neighboring WiFi networks. Change the channel on the router to a channel less used.

You should grab a ethernet over powerline adapter.

Firestick is pretty low end. I would consider the Buzz xpl 3000 and Dreamlink Dlite+ (make sure it is the new + version that allows you to install Android apps) or the beefier formuler z7. Also play around with your PC, I use an old laptop in my bedroom, there are various apps such as TV Mosaic or install this free Android emulator and use various apps https://www.memuplay.com/

Also see if you can change Vaders to hls stream instead of the default ts stream. And have multiple providers, you can actually have multiple cheaper providers. And for VOD try Android apps such as Terrarium TV or Mobdro.
