MAG 256 Vs MAG 322

by polys643

Hello everyone. I am planning on buying a STB and interested in a MAG. I am between MAG 256 Vs MAG 322 and I am not sure which I should go for. 256 has been around for more than 2 years as far as I know whereas 322 was release in early 2018.

On the other hand, 256 looks to have a faster processor on paper (1.5GHz and 3500 DMIPS Vs 750Mhz and 2500 DMIPS on 322), and more RAM (1GB Vs 512MB on 322).

I really want to have the fastest possible menu navigation and this is why I am looking at these numbers. Should I go for the 256 which looks to be faster on paper but already 2 years old or get the new 322 with lower specs?

Thanks in advance for the help

I have a Mag 322 (aswell as many other devices), it works as expected, havent noticed any issues across many portals, bar the same boring 1980s interface hah.

Instead of getting a Mag, I would suggest a Formuler Z7+, as it will allow you to PVR your programs, and it will do 4k. Why? because more and more providers are starting to dabble in 4k, and this way you will be able to have those channels. It also supports HEVC, which some providers will start moving towards in order to save bandwidth. One provider has already moved 100% to it already, and several have test channels that are available to people with capable STB's.

I’ve had a mag 256 for about a year now and I haven’t had a good experience. It overheats frequently and requires a reboot several times a week. It recently stopped loading portals as well, even though they work fine with stbemu
