Pretty new to IPTV. I currently have it set up on an android box.
I am looking to upgrade to a decent piece of hardware, and am wondering which would be best, a MAG box or a Nvidea Shield.
The Nvidea would have Kodi, which I use as a media center for my movies on hard drive.
Is a MAG box (or other dedicated IPTV box) a better idea?
Any recommendations appreciated.
I have tried both. Sold my mag box and bought shield. Couldn’t be more satisfied plus future proof. If price is the preference and ONLY iptv then go for Mag box. My suggestion would be shield though.
This is going to be a mixed bag. Both are good devices. Since the mag is a dedicated box, its bitrate and color saturation are better. That's just fact. Having that dedicated software with the hardware configured for that software allows it to make better color saturation and the bitrate better. That's not to dismiss the shield. It's a speedy player, with most providers going with apps and things it's a great option too with decent bitrate and generally no buffering. It's all about what your picky about. All that said, you cant go wrong, both are great options. To me color saturation was important, so I prefer a mag experience. If that's not something that bothers you, the shield is an excellent choice that provides more than just an iptv experience.
If you're going to pony up the money for a Shield, grab a Formuler Z7+. It will allow you to install Kodi, and will allow you to PVR your shit as well. The only drawback is you won't get the 4k Netfilx that the Shield will. Formuler has a full dedicated support forum, and they do push out updates monthly, sometimes weekly. You also won't be saddled with having to deal with shitty ass software and wondering if it's the software you bought or your hardware as the software is standardized for the device, where as with the Shield you will have to try several different programs from the play store till you find one you like. And if something goes wrong or isn't working, you will have absolutely no support mechanism.
The Mag will give you the wife/in law experience. If they're technodumbs, this is what you want.
I like my buzzbox alot. My Shield is faster.
Dreamlink is pretty good too!
For iptv strickly the mag is better
