Can I use a free VPN or is a paid one required?

by ls_2012

I found a VPN called ultrasurf on the play store which is free. Will there be any risks if I use this to stream sports?

You get what you pay for. Whatever ultrasurf is, how do you suppose they make any revenue? It probably isn't something you'd like.

It will probably suck and be filled with ads, and possibly have malware

Free ones will still have to monetize somehow. No-one does it for free. Better just invest few bucks into a cheap one - Surfshark, PIA, Pure etc.

Sure, you can use a free one!

You can also find "free" iptv m3u links and use those!

It'll suck, but you can use it! haha

First of all this Ultrasurf is based in the USA, that's a red flag when it comes to VPNs and privacy. Tunnelbear has a free mode but limited to 500mb of bandwidth, you'd use that in a few minutes of streaming. I see comments on the Chrome app page saying a website pops up often, maybe that's where the ads are, but anyways there has to be a catch somewhere.

If you need a VPN and really value your privacy then look for one outside of the 5/9/14 Eyes countries.
