Found a great website which allows you to legally watch the FTA channels. Features include:

I just don't get why there isn't something like this offered by the UK media companies as a joint venture.

It would cover most of what I need from streaming tv as despite the fact that I pay the same for a tv licence as everyone else in the UK, I only get a fraction of the channels because we live in an area that can't see the main transmitter and we get our signal from a lower power repeater.

Can't see this being free for very long though.

Kinda like http://tvcatchup.com/ but with a login and a few more channels. (and no geo restriction, but that doesn't affect me as a UK person watching UK channels)
