Anyone disappointed with their z7+?

by stokedcrf

So, I just got a good deal on the z7+ and have been testing it.

Im actually extremely disappointed with it, especially considering the pricing most people are asking for it.

I was going to do a video review, but thought I'd throw this thread out there to see if other people notice the shortcomings of this box as well.

Full disclaimer though, I have about ten iptv boxes so I'm probably a bit biased, but honestly this device would be lucky to place top 5...

And it only has 100mbps lan port? No gigabit? Whaaaaaaaatttttt?!

This is a decent box if priced around 100cad or less, but I can't imagine paying more than that?

Can anyone here make me change my mind about this iptv box that costs 60% more than the rest?

What boxes are in your top 5?

Formuler and dreamlink boxes are only good for the mytv app other then that they are just regular chinese andriod boxes

I'm a bit disappointed with mine for the price as well.

The built in ethernet and wifi is absolutely useless and I ended up spending an additional £15 on an adapter so I can connect to 5g.

Remote is horrible and you have to use the IR extender as even if you are pointing it direct at the box it can be hit and miss at times.

Without the mytv app it's just pretty much another cheap android box in my opinion and not worth the near £100 it cost me.

On the plus side the catchup and recording features are pretty much the best I have used and are very reliable.

I love the formuler z7+ and just bought a second one. WiFi is plenty fast for Iptv on the included 600mb w2 WiFi dongle or you can also get a faster one like the w3 for gig.

Nothing beats the z7+ look and feel and functionality of mytvonline combined with the included remote. It’s the best you can get if you want an experience that is just like real cable/satellite service. Any dummy can just hit the power button and instantly “watch tv” with zero dicking around.

I went from planning to get the Formuler Z7+ @ $140 to deciding the $160 Minix Neo U9-H was a better choice, and then realized the Shield can be had for $177 shipped Amazon Prime. Then decided the extra $23 bucks was worth getting the controller so I got the $199 model. I don't regret that process or spending the cash at all. Using the Shield with IPTV Smarters has been very near cable type experience. Good enough my wife and kids can use it. It's really been top notch.

This is a good thread. I like my buzztv xpl3000. It was half the cost. I tried the formuler at a store in Brampton. Couldn't justify the cost.

The redeeming quality of the Z7+, which is also true of your T1+, is the MyTVOnline app. That's it. As an android box, its just average. You are paying for the IPTV software. A Znano, or ZX for less money is just as good a box for watching TV.

What I like over, say, the Buzz boxes is the ability to use multiple Formuler/Dreamlink boxes on a single account. If you have a multiple connection provider, like Vader, you can use more than one Formuler box at the same time within the household by using either the m3u playlist portal or using an API login in the standard portals. This versatility is fantastic for homes with multiple TVs.

Personally, I'm an Enigma2 guy now, but I still have a Nano to play with from time to time. I'll never go back to anything other than an E2 satellite receiver for IPTV.

The wifi/donglr is absolute garbage... I wish I never sold my Dreamliner T1. The rest of the unit is fine, it's just not as great as it was marketed to be.

And it only has 100mbps lan port? No gigabit? Whaaaaaaaatttttt?!

This is my biggest problem with it. I don't know if it's because of this 100mbps limit on the Lan port of if it's the hardware itself, but I can't get over 35Mbps through PrivateInternetAccess if it's running on the box. So for now I am instead running it on a router the box is connected directly to to get 90Mbps.

I'm curious to know what other boxes you've used, am currently thinking of replacing my TV and just getting a smart TV to use with the SmartIPTV app.

Isn't the lan 100megabyte whereas you're taking megabit?

I have a formuler and my number 1 issue is the wifi. Only 2.4ghz internal. It is horrible for range too. I would recommend this box to anybody that is going to use the lan. If not stay away!
