EPL block question

by holidayinning

Hi all, at what point in the chain does the epl block kick in?

E.g. two providers get SS channels from Globe one needs vpn one doesnt, why? Is the block on the providers server? Would changing servers help them escape the block? Or am I mistaken and both streams are not sourced from globe?

Am I correct in that a service requiring a VPN is more likely to go down a similar route like Ace? Unless they can get round the blocks? A bit like vaders from what i hear....or has no bearing?

Yes

Yes - discovering and blocking servers is the beginning of the hunt

The prime weapon is server blocking within the UK. If they can link this to a money trail, they will hunt down the owners/admins and close/sue/prosecute as appropriate

Solution - use an offshore (ie non-UK-Based) provider who keeps a low profile

Star is half right.

When you get a stream from a provider you aren't getting the stream from source, they are and restraining it through their servers. If one is getting blocked it means FriendsMTS the company that does the actual blocking for the PREM has a sub with them so sends a list of IPs to the UK big six to null, so no traffic goes to those IPs during match time and about an hour after. See if the other provider isn't blocked then FriendsMTS don't have a sub with them. One way to fix it is to just switch provider you are with if you don't mind to someone who isn't BT,Sky, Virgin, TalkTalk, EE and Plus net.

In regard to following ACE, no that isn't the case at all. There are plenty of services that have been blocked for the last 2 years who are still running. FriendsMTS will work with the PREM, and in part they probably can work with the Police and FACT. However they only have any jurisdiction in the UK so if the provider isn't based there then there is fuck all they can actually do about the provider itself. This is the reason they need your ISP to block access to the IPs related to the server. Because the UK court has no authority anywhere but the UK so the sever company if it is say in the Czech Republic wouldn't get a fuck and enforce it as isn't valid there, they would need an order from that country. As such right now, the UK has become less and less of a net neutrality country to protect the pockets of thebakready filthy rich.

The best thing to do is find a provider who knows a thing or 2 about IT and how it works. more often than not circumventing the blocks isn't difficult but if your're inexperienced they just tell you to get a VPN and thats their way to overcome it.

Nothing wrong with that but it doesn't bode well going forward
