Noobie question:how can I stop my IPTV from lagging?

by Scottie3Hottie

So I recently got this installed. I am new to this and don't really know much. I'm with Bell internet in Canada if that helps

The service is in the basement and the router is upstairs. The connection is good, showing 4 out of 5 bars. My cellphone and laptop wifi is good as well. However some channels have unbearable lag. Most notably, AMC, ESPN, UFC PPV, movie channels etc. When I try to stream shows it also lags and sometimes it'll just stop but I can hear audio.

I was thinking of using a wired connection or getting a range extender.

You can start by stating the service you are using, the actual device in question, and the internet speed it's getting while doing a test directly on it (what is going on with your cell phone and laptop doesn't matter in the overall equation btw).

Although ditching wifi altogether, even if it means having to run a long ass ethernet cord, tends to top my default list of initial suggestions.

Well since OP hasn't come back to tell us 1) who their IPTV service provider is, 2) what their package with their internet provider is, 3) what device and 4) what software they are using if they are emulating, I think it is safe to assume they are dead.

Protip, when you make fucking posts like this, include all the information that you don't think you need (in other words give us everything), because we're not fucking mind readers, and we don't live in your house. This is like showing up at your mechanic and saying "I have a rattle in my car" and they ask you for the keys to your car so they can check it out, and you say "Oh, I walked here, why the fuck would I bring my car?"

There are many causes for buffering.

It could be your wifi, your router settings, the set top box itself, your isp, or even the iptv service itself.

You need to start scratching things off the list.

Id start by plugging the box directly into Your router and go from there.

For my clients that have issues, I always stop by their house with an ipguys sub and wire their box to test and see if they are using something else (statistically they are pretty good) so we can usually get to the bottom of the issue pretty quick.
