how do I setup the correct EPG/guide for Helix in Plex?

by atomicrabbit_

I just bought a month with Helix (first IPTV service I've ever tried). I'm using telly with Plex Live TV to watch it and it seems to work ok, but setting up the correct epg/guide has been problematic in Plex. During the live tv setup in Plex, it gets to the part where it tries to automatically pull the guide based on my postal code. This seems to match some channels, but the majority of Helix's channels are missing or there's not info for them or the information that's there is completely wrong.

After doing some research, I came across a comment from u/bobjameshelix that says to use Helix's m3u URL and replace get.php with xmltv.php for the EPG. I'm able to choose a custom EPG and provide the xmltv URL and it seems to match more channels, but not the 1600+ channels that Helix supposedly supports and even the ones it does match are sometimes either completely wrong channels or wrong shows that are currently on.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Plex doesn’t like more than 140 channels iirc.

Maybe submit a ticket with them on their website..?

Also a Helix subscriber, but I use Kodi to watch. The Guide is flat out wrong for some channels and after several support tickets it was unclear whether this was hard to fix or they just didn't have interest in doing so.

I would be curious to hear from folks about using alternative sources for guide data that you could pull in (I recall Enigma2 folks do this, but not clear on the process or what is required to do so).
