Don’t buy a TV because it works well with IPTV apps. Get a TV that has the performance and price you want and pick up a Formuler Z7+ or a Mag for IPTV.
That said, Android TV is the most flexible and Sony TVs have the four colored buttons on the remote that stbemu needs (they’re out of order so you have to look at the colors when you hit them but they’re there) which leads to a slightly better emulation experience.
Samsung and LG have the Smart IPTV app. Personally I tried that app myself and I found it to be quite crap.
Nothing is going to beat the dedicated boxes though.

I'd get a Smart TV with the full Android store on. I noticed a few of the big boys are starting to pull IPTV apps from their stores if you update the TV's software. At least with Android based Smart TV I'd expect it to be a bit more robust to that :)
Best thing to do is let the TV be a TV if you will and attach an IPTV device to it. Devices that run and are designed for IPTV will always work better.

I have a Sony Android TV and it works flawlessly.. I could recommend any tv that comes with Android TV so you can access google's play store and download anything there..
As far as I know, Samsung's for example have their own OS which may limit your choices of IPTV apps, although I think they have Smart IPTV app for Samsung as well
As far as apps go, the two that I have found to be the best are Smart IPTV and Perfect Player
