For past week the box we have upstairs won't play any movies. It says connection problem however it will play shows with no problem at all.

Are those movies in x264 720p/1080p ?
Since you are saying "for the past week" that means it was working before, right? So could you also run any previous movies you ran before just to check?
Probably your provider is having some maintenance on their VOD server where they store Movies.
It is also possible that they forgot to add Movies to the bouquet assigned to your account.
Get in touch with them and ask.
Your provider has probably switched to the new and improved HEVC H265 codec for video encoding which is far more efficient in bandwidth and most providers have switched their VOD libraries to it.
Live tv is unaffected at the moment. Might be time for a new MagBox 256 or newer still with a MagBox 322.
