I just bought Nvidia Shield and wanted to ask if i can use VLC as my app to get IPTV channels?
If not what is the best app to use on Android or Nvidia Shield.

VLC is backwards for IPTV use in some cases, esp on the most powerful box on the market:)
Like others have said Smarters IPTV Pro works well.
If you liked the magbox layout then STB EMU works pretty well. I use it myself.

VLC on the Shield for IPTV is like saying "I bought a Ferrari and I want to use it as a generator for my house". It will technically do the job with some work, but it will be horrible at it.
...IPTV Extreme works great for me on my Shield! Has Parental controls that allow you to Lock/Hide categories and channels. Select the FFF player as default as it shows channel quality information. The Settings area is amazing - so much to choose from.
Perfect Player is a solid option. Feels well using a control. IPTV Smarters app, in my opinion, feels best on a touch device (such as my phone).

I use perfect player right now but I'm trying to find something better.
My main issue is I want to be able to remove channels from the list, and as far as I can tell you can't do that in perfect player. There also doesn't seem to be any parental control lock feature.
Use Kodi with PVR Client if you want a "professional look", otherwise use Perfect Player, much better than VLC, trust me ;)
