The Firetv Cube was one of the bigger device release rip offs I've seen in recent memory, and which even at it's common find nowadays as an "on sale" item should be avoided entirely imo. Especially after Amazon just released the better spec'd stick if you choose to really cheap out there instead of spending just half that budget goal on a pre-Black Friday Nvidia Shield.

Shields work well for streaming, not so much for DVR, VOD or Catch up. There are a couple DVR IPTV apps that can run on Shield, but they don't do well from what I recall hearing.
Picked up 2 formuler Z7’s 8 months ago. Game plan was to set one up and sell one to a buddy to cover some cost. I fell in love with the formuler, kept both and set him up with my old cheap Chinese box. I’d been running perfect player on the cheap Chinese boxes for a couple of years with very few issues. The formuler is worth the money to me, but it is my first mag box.
I run a couple of Shields. Used basic boxes in the past (garbage) and tried the premium box (Formuler Z7+) which was cool but still a clunky android box. Shield is a very different experience and way faster and more polished. Works perfectly for any IPTV interface. Perfect Player is a really nice program and you can load up all your providers into one program. If you need to record IPTV smarters Pro works from the live stream and ProgTV works if you need to record future events in the EPG. Shield has been on sale lately too.
Apple TV 4k $179. I use it and I love it. Pair it with GSE Smart Iptv app or IPTV Smarters and streaming is flawless. I'm actually going to grab another one on black friday sale.
I still have to side with the Z7+...with all the updates and fixes, it's still the best experience if your looking for ease of use/cable like experience. Been really solid for me for months now.

I was about to make a thread but might as well jump on board. Looking to upgrade from firestick & lg webos w/SmartSTB on it. Not a clue regarding android boxes. Best for £100?
Shield. I had various Fire devices and while they were good, the Shield is hands down better. Especially with the sale price.
Fire Stick 4K instead of the cube, unless you really really want Alexa on all the time

...What you buy should depend on usage for example - # of connections needed, Stalker Service or Multi Usage Service, knowledge to tinker or set and forget.
