Recommend Speed For IPTV ?

by venomxt12

Might be moving house soon and want to know what's the min. speed required for streaming IPTV with a VPN ?I currently have 75megabit with no problems, however some i've looked at only have about 40megabit

so how does VPN work then in regards to speed ?

If person 1. has a 100mb sync without the VPN and 50mb with the VPN

and person 2. has 70mb sync without the VPN, will they still receive 50mb with the same VPN server or not ?

Thanks

That is more than fast enough. Most providers don't even have streams above 5mbit.

Outside hypothetical paper theory on what speeds *should* work without issue, in my own extensive testing of IPTV services I've always found anything above 30mb to the most ideal "safe range". At least within the large sample size experience, and not simply while making the assumption that you'll be gtg for next 10 hours since that 20mb feed didn't see any buffering the 5 min you let it play uninterrupted on the tv.

Once my internet or VPN start acting up and pushing me into the 20's or below, I always suspend testing until it clears up. Again I get on paper it *should* be fine, but I always tend to see the stability difference with my Brighthouse internet here in Florida, and even to a point I personally won't even bother with personal use much if it deeps into the teens.

I haven't really seen any streams that are from an IPTV provider go over 9 to 12mbps for FHD streams. So you should be fine with a 12-15 mbps or more connection (as long as no one else is using internet while you are streaming. Globe was providing streams of UHD quality as a beta test which were about 30mbps and that test ended pretty quickly (i believe due to bandwidth constraints and not a lot of people were not able to utilize it). If you at some point will be interested in streaming UHD channels or using 1080p or 4k content then i would go with 35mbps or faster internet. I hope this helps you!

25Mbps should be more than you’ll ever need for FHD so 40Mbps should be fine unless other people are using the connection as well.

Beware that VPN speeds are ridiculously variable though. You might get 25 on one server and 1 on another while you get 100 on a different service altogether.

I stream with no issues on multiple different providers and I'm only pulling about 40 down (even you I pay for 100) stupid county living

Izzy2016

I watch live iptv FHD and Netflix UHD on an internet speed of 6.5mbps.

I've been curious and looked at my routers traffic while three 4.5 Mbps HD streams were going on in the house.

It definitely spiked up to 30-35 Mbps a few times.

I would say you need something like 2-2.5x the bitrate stream to be sure of no congestion

Its less about speed and how about how far you're away from the servers streaming. Is there any packet loss etc.

You barely need broadband. 10mbps average. 5-15mbps as a range I'd say. That's for very good quality image. A lot of the cheaper ones probably require less as they compress a lot. Even the ones with "4k" streams are probably not even breaking 15-20mbps tops. These providers make money by getting the maximum number of users in a provided amount of bandwidth.

For reference, YouTube 4k and Netflix 4k which are vastly superior to any grey market or even legit IPTV streaming service only run in the ~50mbps range.

So basic level service is fine for bootleg IPTV.

None of that takes into account VPN. You should shoot for a good 30% loss of bandwidth over VPN.

Anything over 10mb is fine
